<image:caption>The CARES Act established several financial relief programs for individuals, small businesses, and nonprofits that are available or will become available soon. To help you navigate these resources, we have pulled together a set of frequently asked questions, with answers and links to both the federal and Indiana state governments. (Our document was last updated April 3, 2020, check back regularly for updates.) A number of organizations have assembled links to both federal and state responses to COVID-19 which are also being updated regularly: • The National Consumer Law Center • The Indiana Democratic Party • Indiana Legal Services</image:caption>

<image:title>About - My name is Ellen Marks and I am running for Congress in Indiana’s 2nd District.</image:title>
<image:caption>I will bring my in-depth knowledge of the global economy, financial markets, and financial regulation to fight for your economic interests, help our communities and healthcare system rebuild after COVID-19, and make our policies more fair and compassionate. As your Congresswoman, I will fight to make sure every Hoosier has access to affordable health care, even during a financial crisis with high unemployment. I will take action to lower drug prices and protect supply, so that everyone can get the medicines they need. I will work to build a bright clean future, with renewable energy, green, good-paying jobs and resilient infrastructure to power a strong and fair economy and a healthy future.</image:caption>

<image:title>About - I am committed to building a just economy and compassionate government.</image:title>
<image:caption>I live in South Bend with my husband, two children, and two dogs. For the last 28 years, as a lawyer, I’ve helped companies and banks finance their businesses. I’ve also provided pro bono legal services that include criminal justice litigation and preparing consumer law handbooks for legal aid groups. I’m committed to building a more fair and just economy and a more compassionate government. And I will fight for a healthy planet for our children, their children and future generations.</image:caption>

<image:title>why I'm running - In 2006, after six weeks in the NICU, we brought our new-born son, Caleb, home from the hospital - as well as $600,000 in bills. We never got to bring our daughter, Verity, home.</image:title>
<image:caption>I was 28-1/2 weeks pregnant with twins, and I was dying of preeclampsia. I remember thinking—seriously—about whether dying would give my twins a better shot. After 6-1/2 weeks in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, we only brought one twin home. Instead of spending time with my newborn son, I spent hours every day fighting over those bills with my insurance company, the hospital, and debt collection agents. I’m a lawyer. I make a living winning those fights, and I was fortunate enough to have my firm’s HR team supporting me. Even still, the battles were exhausting. I would say to my husband, “How do people without law degrees deal with health insurance companies? How do they survive this?” Alex would respond, “They don’t.”</image:caption>

<image:title>why I'm running - COVID-19 has changed America. Now more than ever, we need leaders with a proven track record to develop innovative solutions to our most complicated problems.</image:title>
<image:caption>I am the common sense, progressive policy wonk and civil rights advocate whose 28-year career as an attorney structuring global financial transactions makes me the ideal person to represent you in Congress. I will bring my in-depth knowledge of the global economy, financial markets, and financial regulation to fight for everyone. I will work to develop sound fiscal, health care, and environmental policies that treat every American - cashiers, nurses, teachers, construction workers, doctors, gig-economy workers, artists, mid-level professionals, everyone, even lawyers - fairly and compassionately.</image:caption>
