Make Sure Your Vote Counts!

Important information for the November 5 election. Voting machines may prevent Hoosiers from casting votes in all elections, and you may not even notice!

If you cast a straight-ticket party vote, it will not include votes for any candidates in races where voters are required to vote for multiple candidates, such as the at-large city council races. This is a result of a state law change adopted in 2016. We are also hearing about issues where the ballot structure may cause some candidates for an office to be on a different screen than other candidates for that office. Here is what we are recommending:
—Don’t enter a straight-party vote. Instead, individually vote for each candidate in the party you support
—Bring a list to the poll of who you are planning to vote for, and make sure you see all of your chosen candidates’ names
—Read each page of the ballot as it appears on the screen, and check whether there are multiple screens for a particular ballot page. Make sure you review all the screens.
—Check the printed ballot summary before you submit it.
—If you have difficulty, ask a poll worker to help you and to give you a replacement ballot if necessary.
—Use early voting, rather than waiting for Election Day, to allow yourself more time. (And reach out to us if you need more info on your early voting options—we’re happy to help.)

Please share! And remember, to take back our country, we need to vote in every election, every race.
